The American Popular Song Society Resumes Live Programs at Don’t Tell Mama, with a Tribute to Susannah McCorkle, Plus Streaming, on Saturday, October 9

The 2021-2022 season of the American Popular Song Society (APSS) begins live on Saturday, October 9 with A Tribute to Susannah McCorkle. Monthly meetings (the second Saturday) are at Don’t Tell Mama from noon to 2 PM. The program is also streaming for those who can’t attend in person.

The tribute to the late jazz singer is being produced by APSS Newsletter Editor-In-Chief and Board Member, Jerry Osterberg, and features a featuring a cast of performers who knew and worked with McCorkle. Performers, led by Music Director Allen Farnham, include Danny Bacher, Aisha de Hass, Mark Nadler, Gabrielle Stravelli, and Lucy Wijnands. Before her death in 2001, Susannah was among the most popular cabaret performers in New York. Beginning at The Cookery and Michael’s Pub, she ultimately assumed long associations with the Oak Room and Concord Records.

All APSS programs are free to members. Non-members are welcome and pay a $10 guest fee. To join APSS and to learn more, click here. All Covid protocols are in place, so attendees should arrive at 11:30 AM for check-in with proof of vaccination ready.
