Sue’s Muse: An Interview with Sally Mayes

This is what I wrote on Sally’s  Facebook page after seeing her show “The Stories” in her series called NOW & THEN:

I had to sit for a minute to just let the experience of being in Sally’s light last night be all mine but I can now post. What a show! What a singer! What a team! What a night! THIS is what I want Cabaret to be…up close, personal, energized, connected, the old “I know that know what I’m talkin’ ’bout”, the voice – my goodness….that voice that can sing in any range and just Sally the woman on stage with a mic, a great group of talent behind her and her stories. It was more than enough…it was everything. Her original songs moved me me tears. I understood them. I was them. When she was funny (and she is WAY funny) she cracked me up big time! Her epic delivery of a Christine Lavin song is unsurpassed. Brava beautiful Sally and congrats to Tedd Firth, Michael O’Brien, Carolyn Montgomery and Jessica Tyler Wright.  Please meet Sally Mayes…
