Singer, guitarist and songwriter Eliane Amherd brings her band to Club Bonafide on two Fridays. February 9 and March 9 –both dates have at 9:00 PM start time. The Swiss native, now living in New York City, will feature music from her latest album, Skylines. Amherd’s sound is a jazz groove, rooted in African, Brazilian and Latin music. She’s a graduate of The New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music, who has performed in major New York clubs, as well as in international venues in the Americas, Europe and Asia, including festivals in China, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal and Mongolia.
Amherd has also arranged and produced the Swiss Miss Sampler, Heimweh, featuring major Swiss artists. In 2013, she was a candidate of the first edition of The Voice of Switzerland on Swiss National TV and in 2017 she was the runner-up for “Best Singer-Songwriter in Switzerland” at the Montreux Jazz Festival. In addition to her own group, she is the musical director of the Frauenstimmen Festival in her hometown in Brig, Switzerland and of the OrchExtra Gottardo at the Expo in Milano, Italy. Amherd also sits in on guitar with various bands, such as the all-female Brazilian psychedelic ’70s rock band, As Lolas.
