Salon, the award-winning weekly open mic, created and hosted by Mark Janas continues at Etcetera, Etcetera (352 West 44th Street) on Sunday, March 18th from 7 to 10:00 PM. (Sign-Up Begins at 6:15.) The optional theme for the evening is When the Spirit Moves Me (but any material, on or off theme, is always welcome).
Co-host will be Mark Watson, who studied opera at The Julliard School and who has performed concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher and Alice Tully Halls. Watson has appeared on national television and has traveled the world, winning several international competitions. He is currently training to become a registered Rodenburg Teacher, following the technique of British voice teacher, Patsy Rodenburg, who is best known for her work with A-list classical actors. (NOTE: To prepare for his final set of courses Watson is offering free classes on breath and support. The Salon Spotlight will feature Sierra Rein, who debuts her solo cabaret show, Running in Place at The Laurie Beechman Theatre (407 West 42nd Street) on Thursday, April 12th at 7 PM, with additional performances on Sunday, April 29th at 7 PM and Saturday, May 12th at 2 PM.
