If you’re going to be on Cape Cod this weekend, in either Cotuit or Provincetown, you must see one of the standout New York cabaret shows of 2017, My Ship: Songs from 1941, which earned Dawn Derow a MAC Award for “Best Female Vocalist.” Dawn’s show taps into the 1941 “Hit Parade,” with songs like “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Boggie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “The White Cliffs of Dover.” My Ship explores the emotional climate of America as it entered WWII and opens our minds and heart to the women of that era, whether they were a “Rosie the Riveter,” a housewife raising children alone, a USO entertainer, or a nightclub singer. Derow revisits the music that comforted and uplifted a nation until there was peace, “At Last.”
Conceived by Barry Levitt and Dawn Derow and Directed by Jeff Harnar, Derow’s Musical Director is Ian Herman on piano, Ron Ormsby on bass and Bart Weisman on drums.
The following day, Saturday, September 8, Dawn will be appearing at Tin Pan Alley in Ptown from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Reservations are suggested.

About Cotuit Center for the Arts
Founded in 1993 and incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization in 1995, Cotuit Center for the Arts has grown into an award-winning and dynamic arts and cultural hub serving Cape Cod, Southeastern Massachusetts and beyond. We host more than 35,000 visitors yearly for free and paid programming in our gallery, main theatre, black box theatre and classrooms and we serve local populations of disabled teens and adults and incarcerated youth through our outreach programs. Our calendar is jam-packed — an average week at the Center juggles an average of 120 hours of programming across ten schedulable locations on campus. From rehearsals to meetings to classes to performances, we are always buzzing with activity. A typical year will feature 8 Mainstage theatre productions, 11 Black Box shows, 40 or so class offerings, 12 Gallery installations and 41 special events from concerts to student collaborations, annual festivals to talent showcases, craft fairs to magic shows. Our ticket sales cover only half of our financial needs — we are supported by the contributions of our generous donors, sustained by a dedicated force of 400 active volunteers, grounded by the vision of a 16-member Board of Directors and driven by the dedication and passion of 9 full-time and 9 part-time employees. We strive to be a welcoming hub at every level.
