Singer Lynn Henderson returns to Dont Tell Mama with A Skitch in Time: My Friendship with Maestro Skitch Henderson, directed by Klea Blackhurst, on Tuesday, April 10 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, April 14 at 4:00 PM. A Skitch in Time: My Friendship with Maestro Skitch Henderson( no relation), is a tribute to her friend, the New York Pops founder, who had previously enjoyed a long and full career with NBC. Musical Direction is by Douglas J. Cohen, with Bob Sabin on bass.
The two met at a benefit dinner in Connecticut, where they both lived at the time. Lynn, who was Chairman of Deck The Halls to benefit the New Milford Hospital, had arranged to bring the New York Pops All Stars to Connecticut. Skitch eventually mentored Lynn as she created a show about his friend, Cole Porter, and later brought her cabaret shows to Hunt Hill Farm—the cooking school, store and gallery at the Connecticut home of Skitch and his wife, Ruth. Lynn Henderson considers Skitch a strong inspiration and role model, particularly in founding the Pops at retirement age. “It points out to me that we are never too late to pursue our dreams and should never give up on those dreams,” she says. “Age is not a factor.”
