Vocalist Jane Scheckter celebrates Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields with Together and Apart at Pangea on Wednesday, September 30 at 7 PM. All of the arrangements for the show are by the late Mike Renzi and music director-pianist Tedd Firth. Also appearing are bassist Jay Leonhart and drummer Peter Grant.
Fields wrote lyrics with some of our greatest composers, starting with Jimmy McHugh and Jerome Kern, and Coleman wrote music with amazing lyricists such as Carolyn Leigh and Peggy Lee. The collaboration of Coleman and Fields revived both their careers in an incredible way with the fantastic Sweet Charity. Given that there’s probably 1,000 songs they’ve written together and apart, this show will have a selection of new songs that Scheckter hasn’t sung before, but also features some well known songs in her repertoire from both their earliest years.
