Jackie Draper is thinking deep thoughts. Her show, This Happy Madness, which plays The Laurie Beechman Theatre on Sunday, Aprill 22 at 6 PM, explores those aspects of existence that take on a life of their own, transcending logic and possibly inspiring joy, freedom, exhilaration, and, occasionally, obsessive behavior.
Draper sings numbers both in English and French; the song list includes the work of Fred Astaire, Charles Aznavour, the Bergmans, Sammy Cahn, Bob Dorough, Dorothy Fields, Tom Jobim, Michel Legrand, Jimmy McHugh, Johnny Mercer, Cole Porter and Jule Styne, among others. The musical team is Music Director Gregory Toroian at the piano, Ritt Henn on bass and Robbyn Tongue on woodwinds. Dancer Milo Saidl is a special guest. Kimberly Vaughn directs.
