We’re absolutely thrilled to bring you one of the leader of Nu Hot Jazz movement form down in New Orleans. On Wednesday August 31st the phenomenal TUBA SKINNY will be setting Big Apple ablaze. Joining them for a set of his own will be one of the greatest New Orleans stride piano players, Tom McDermott, of HBO’s Treme fame. Dance floor at DROM will be expanded to accommodate all with happy feet. Reserved table seating is limited so we strongly advise you getting tickets now. Save 40% on advance general admission as well.
Dear friends, as many of you have probably heard a tragedy struck in the dead of the night a couple of months ago when the New York Hot Jazz Fest director’s nickname, “Misha”, had suddenly ceased to exist. “Misha” has served all well over the past five years and it is only proper that we give “Misha” a fitting send-off.
On August 31st, right after the Hot Jazz Summer Bash at Drom, we shall congregate for a New Orleans Jazz Funeral and Second Line Parade the like of which has never been seen before. Join a midnight second line with creme de la creme of New York Hot Jazz community at an iconic, breathtaking Manhattan location, which will remain secret until the 31st. We had to change the venue form the original one considered to an even more spectacular one. Mourners procession with a performance art twist will be organized by the incredible Lilianne Lorraine. Doves will be released. A certain celebrity will eulogize. All are encouraged to dress in vintage mourner garb. Parasols are optional on account of there being no sun at midnight, but, if you feel like bringing one, we won’t stop you.
Funeral Expense Fund has just been set up.
Anyone generous enough to contribute $15 or more will be emailed the location of the midnight jazz funeral at 6pm on August 31st. Once you know the location we urge you to exercise discretion. The last thing we want is a stampede. People will be dying to be at this funeral!
