Dan Ruth Retires “A Life Behind Bars” With a Farewell Performance on Saturday, October 13th

Actor-writer, Dan Ruth, was, in 2018, the winner of the MAC, Award for Spoken Word, the Bistro Award for Solo Show and the Encore Producer’s Award at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. In addition, he was awarded a grant from The Martha Hill Newell Playwright’s Fund, in Virginia, where he grew up. Ruth returns to the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Saturday, October 13th at 2 pm, with his black comedy, A Life Behind Bars, bidding farewell to the show has he moves on to new projects. Fermented in over two decades of booze, bars and New York City gentrification, the show, directed by multiple-MAC and Bistro Winner, Tanya Moberly, is an unapologetic, darkly funny look at what can happen when you reach for the stars and grab for the bottle instead. Dan Ruth shares his story of addiction and recovery through comedic monologues, interwoven with characters he’s encountered while working and drinking in the bars and dives of pre-Rudy Giuliani Manhattan and Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

A Life Behind Bars, Saturday, October 13th at 2pm. There is a &20 Cover charge and $20 food or drink minimum per person. To purchase tickets, please visit:https://web.ovationtix.com/trs/pr/968687. Phone: 212-695-6909. Note: The show has frank language and mature themes.
