Pop/jazz vocalist Barbara Fasano plays at Birdland Theater on Monday, July 29th at 8:30 pm with Easy to Find, a set of eclectic songs ranging from Dorothy Fields to Joni Mitchell, from Jill Sobule to Carolyn Leigh, from Harold Arlen to Jimmy Webb. A storyteller in song in the tradition of Carmen McRae, Sylvia Syms and Julie Wilson, Fasano explores the complexities of love and the circles we all swirl within. Joining Fasano are Eric Comstock on piano and Boots Maleson on bass.
Fasano’s performances and recordings have won her three New York Bistro awards, seven MAC awards and a New York Nightlife award. Her last two CDs, Busy Being Free and Written In The Stars, won MAC Awards for Record of the Year.
Fasano recently headlined in London in May at Pizza Express Live with Eric Comstock in their show, Downton Abby Road. In August, she headlines at Music Mountain’s Twilight Jazz Series. Her many New York engagements include concert appearances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s American Songbook, Rose Hall, Dizzy’s Club, New York Festival of Song, Town Hall, 92nd Street Y and Symphony Space. She has headlined in cabarets and nightclubs such as Birdland, Jazz at Kitano, The Algonquin, Feinstein’s, Café Carlyle, Iridium, 54 Below, Café Sabarsky, Night Town in Cleveland, Live at Zedel in London and the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. Arts centers and music festivals across the country include Kravis Center, Caramoor, Arizona Jazz Festival, Jersey Jazz, Kanbar Center, The Palace in Stamford, CT, Cooperstown Music Festival, Provincetown Cabaret Festival, Sheldon Concert Hall and Jazz at The Bistro in St. Louis, Prince Music Theatre, Kerrytown Concert House and Saratoga Jazz Festival.
