British singer Barb Jungr returns to Joe’s Pub for the US premiere of Bob, Brel and Me, her latest live-show-and-recording project, for a two-night engagement on Friday and Saturday February 14 and 15, both at 7 pm, with Mark Hartman on piano.
In Bob Brel and Me, Jungr performs songs from her new album, which released in the UK in September. As her previous efforts with the music of Bruce Springsteen, Leonard Cohen, David Byrne, Neil Diamond, Hank Williams and Elvis Presley, Jungr deconstructs adds her own meaning and nuance to familiar songs. Bob, Brel and Me interprets Dylan songs she’s never performed in New York, introduces some of her new originals, and performs several Brel classics in new, approved translations by Robb Johnson.
