Fans’ Decision Jazz Awards night, hosted by singer Antoinette Montague, has the Danny Mixon trio as house band. NEA Jazz master, Chairman – Newport Festivals Foundation, Inc. and Founder of the Newport Jazz Festival George Wein and Lorraine Gordon, co-founder and owner of the Village Vanguard will receive special honors. Hot House, the jazz magazine, keeps thing rollings and has done the polling and extolling of the virtues of the artists and their music. Welcoming the guests and performers, the publication’s editor Gwen Kelly will open the program. Metropolitan Room, which just closed its doors while waiting to set up shop at its new location, open, had welcomed the ceremonies on its stage in past years and now their partner club, The Triad, plays host to the Monday, October 9 event which begins at 7 PM. The Triad is located at 158 West 72nd Street, between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues, New York City. The previous awards events were sold out, so reservation is strongly recommended.
