Yes! The MAC Awards Are Going Forward Tomorrow, Monday, March 30

The MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) Board of Directors has announced that the 34th annual MAC Awards are going forward on Monday, March 30 at 7 pm. The envelopes will be opened and the winners revealed on schedule via MAC’s public Facebook page (see below). MAC president, Lennie Watts, along with Amy Wolk and Lorinda Lisitza, will do the honors, each working from their individual locations. Winners can also expect a telephone call in real time as their names are revealed.

Originally, the awards were planned at Sony Hall, the current venue for the presentation, with the usual festive atmosphere and socializing among MAC Award hopefuls and MAC members and their guests. When the COVID-19 crisis hit, rethinking was in order as venues shut down. The next best option—other than postponing the awards— was deemed a live-streamed event from Don’t Tell Mama, opened specifically for the award presentation. MAC Board members were to convene and conduct the opening of the envelopes and reading out of the nominees and winners. A presentation of Piano Bar Live! was to have preceded the award ceremony.

Further restrictions in response to the coronavirus pandemic made that plan unworkable, with rethinking called for again. As a result, tomorrow night, the Awards will be presented on MAC’s public Facebook page, as described above. Here’s the link:

Note that you don’t need a Facebook account to view the stream. If you’re not a member of Facebook, follow directions on the opening screen carefully to view the awards show.
