It’s a privilege—and it’s absolutely necessary to keep our arts vital and alive. The business of show has never been an easy one, and now more than ever needs our collective and individual support. This is why I’m especially excited to give my support to young Lexy Rock, who’s making her solo debut at The Stonewall Inn with I’m Lexy and I Know It, on Monday, January 19 at 7 PM.
I’m Lexy and I Know It is directed by Susan Campanaro, who’d asked me to meet Lexy for a possible position at Ellen’s Stardust Diner. Not only did we hire her at the Diner, but Lexy became the Hostess with the Mostest. Recently, I featured her in Barbarino’s Big Nite Out! variety show at Lips. Together Susan and I inspired this young starlet to perform this debut cabaret.
As you might guess, Lexy is over the moon to present this, her first New York City cabaret, conceived and scripted by herself, celebrating the chaos, comedy, heartbreak and magic of chasing dreams in the city that never sleeps. I’m Lexy and I Know It is her unapologetic love letter to performing and to the city that somehow manages to break your heart and make your dreams come true at the same time… AND to the little kid inside her who always wanted a spotlight.
I’m Lexy and I Know It invites audiences into Lexy’s world—where it is equal parts glitter, goofiness, and genuine heart. Please join me for Lexy’s evening of story, song, and starry-eyed joy as she officially turns 25 and steps into her main character-era onstage, with Musical Director and pianist, Sarah Glassman, who among many other credits, performs regularly at the Duplex and Townhouse Piano Bar.
