Trumpeter and Jazz Giant, Arturo Sandoval, Appears on Wednesday, February 4 at The 92nd Street Y

The 92nd Street Y hosts an evening with ten-time GRAMMY Award winning Cuban-American jazz legend, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval on Wednesday, February 4 at 7:30 PM in the Kaufmann Concert Hall. The appearance marks his return for the first time since 2015.

The concert will feature selections from his upcoming album SANGU, set for release in March, a fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms, funk and modern jazz—backed by Keith Fiala, trumpet; Michael Tucker, saxophone; Larry Bustamante, saxophone; Williams Brahm, guitar; Lisandro Pidre, piano; Maximilian Gerl, bass; Daniel Feldman, drums; and Roberto Vizcaino, percussion.

Sandoval, a protégé of Dizzy Gillespie, is not only as a jazz trumpet and flugelhorn virtuoso, but also as a pianist, timbal player, keyboardist, vocalist and composer whose who encompasses Afro-Cuban jazz, bebop, straight-ahead jazz, and more. He has won 10 GRAMMYs (19 nominations), 6 Billboard Awards, an Emmy Award, the GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award, the Hispanic Heritage Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama, and most recently, recognition as a 2024 Kennedy Center Honoree.
