Tovah Feldshuh Presents “Aging Is Optional” at The Iridium on Saturday, July 20

Broadway star, cabaret favorite and concert artist, Tovah Feldshuh, presents her popular one-woman show, Aging is Optional (‘Cause G-d I Hope It Is!) on Saturday, July 20 at 8:30 PM at The Iridium live music venue.

Known for her sly wit and comedic talent, Feldshuh says of the show and it’s title, “Some people call them decades… I call them my collected works. Now that I’m in my ‘years of wisdom,’ I decided to age backwards and sing about it!” Aging Is Optional is a piece that fully embraces this vision of a performer who deems herself perpetually 39, and hopes her age-defying romp will be Restylane for the soul. She says, “I firmly believe that aging is optional because I choose doorways that keep me young… If you can align yourself comfortably in your own skin…whatever works for you. What I do not do is create an oppositional universe for myself.”

Feldshuh is a Tony-nominated, multiple Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Awards, Obie Award Winner — whose professional age-transformational highlights include her award-winning portrayal of 60-ish Israel’s Prime Minister Golda Meir in the long-running Broadway blockbuster Golda’s Balcony and as the 16-year old Polish Catholic savior of a dozen Jews Irena Opdyke in Irena’s Vow. Recently, she stopped the show as the trapeze-swinging Berthe in the Tony Award®-winning Broadway revival of Pippin.

Feldshuh also is a six-time Emmy nominee and has been awarded three honorary Doctorates of Humane Letters. Additionally, for her theatre work, besides awards cited above, she has won three Dramalogues and the Theatre World, Helen Hayes and Lucille Lortel Awards for Best Actress. As an author; she recently released her memoir, LILYVILLE: Mother, Daughter and Other Roles I’ve Played.
