The World-Famous Stardusters Honor Stephen Sondheim on Monday, January 24 at Ellen’s Stardust Diner

Ellen’s Stardust Diner and the world-famous Stardusters honor the late Broadway legend, composer Stephen Sondheim, with Monday in the Diner with Sondheim on January 24th, from 7-11pm.

The Stardusters will memorialize and pay tribute to the musical theater master by singing some of his most beloved songs. The event will be co-hosted by Ryan Patrick Smith and Patrick Pevehouse. The Artistic Director is Scott Barbarino, Stardust’s Entertainment Director.

Sondheim, winner of 8 Tony Awards, is credited with shaping the American musical theater, some of his masterpieces include Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Follies, Merrily We Roll Along, Into the Woods and Company.

Owned by Ellen Hart Sturm, The Stardust Diner has been a launching pad for many notable Broadway actors whose work has been seen in many Broadway and Off-Broadway productions since the doors opened in 1987. Since then, guests have enjoyed classic diner menu selections, milkshakes, and more, with full bar options—all while listening to live Broadway tunes sung by the singing waitstaff.

Having joined the diner in 2017, Patrick Pevehouse has had an extensive career touring the country many times over within the last decade.  Patrick starred as Lumiere, the shamelessly flirty candlestick, in the national tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.  He appeared as The Scarecrow in the national tour of The Wizard of Oz, and spent a few years playing Woody in Disney’s Toy Story The Musical. While not performing on the stage, you can find Patrick slinging the milkshakes at Ellen’s while belting “Be our Guest” and Barry Manilow’s greatest hits, and of course, the best songs by Mr. Sondheim.

Ryan Patrick Smith is an actor, singer and dancer originally from Houston, Texas. His favorite credits include The Rocky Horror Picture Show (TUTS), Shrek (Mainstreet Theater), Panto:Rapunzel and Zombies (Stages Rep), Avenue Q (Standing Room Only) and Musical of Musicals (TheatreLab Houston), among others. Smith graduated in 2015 from Sam Houston State University with a BFA in Musical Theatre and since has not only created the drag character of Rosetta Stoned, but can be seen “singing and slinging” around town at a piano bar near you, playing the old Hoskins/Raible circuit of The Duplex, Brandy’s Piano Bar and Don’t Tell Mama.

Ellen’s Stardust Diner is located in the heart of the theater district, on the SE corner of Broadway and 51st Street, NYC.
