After a short hiatus, the new owners of the West Bank Cafe, Tom D’Angora and Michael D’Angora, have announced that the restaurant will open to patrons at 4 PM on Thursday, January 23. Downstairs performance space, the Laurie Beechman Theatre, will reopen in late February following renovations. But note: the restaurant is now taking reservations, so act fast to secure a spot!
In purchasing the West Bank, founded in 1978 by Steve Olsen, the D’Angoras pledged to maintain the same atmosphere notable for its long-running success. There will be the classics including burgers, steaks, fresh fish, Italian favorites and the iconic risotto balls among minor renovations aimed at enhancing the dining experience. During the pandemic, the D’Angoras spearheaded a successful GoFundMe campaign to keep the West Bank open, as well as other efforts to maintain in post-pandemic, going on to take over ownership from Olsen late last year. For the Beechman, the producing couple revealed the space is undergoing remodeling and will have a new look even as it honors the legacy of the theater.
