The Headhunters jazz fusion band is appearing at the Iridium jazz club on Thursday, August 14 at 8:30 PM, featuring original members Bill Summers on percussion and Mike Clark on drums, The 2025 lineup also includes NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison on alto saxophone, Kyle Roussel on keyboards and Chris Severin on bass, all stalwarts of the New Orleans music scene.
Formed by Herbie Hancock in 1973, The Headhunters, a pioneering jazz-funk ensemble, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. Their 2024 album, The Stunt Man, showcases their genre-blending prowess, featuring tracks such as “Attitude of Gratitude” and “Avant Clark,” along with collaborations including “New Levels – New Devils” with the hip-hop group Forward Back .The quintet continues to honor the band’s legacy while pushing musical boundaries. Fans can expect a blend of classic hits and new material, reflecting The Headhunters’ enduring influence on jazz and funk.
