NiteLifeExchange **** J’s Cultural Arts Theatre (JCAT) is proud to present The Last Night of Ballyhoo by Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy) as part of JCAT’s 11th season at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC in North Miami Beach, Florida. Running from March 14-25, 2018, The Last Night of Ballyhoo is directed by JCAT’s Artistic Director, Michael Andron. The Last Night of Ballyhoo, written by the author of Driving Miss Daisy, is a Tony Award winning play that once again explores the lives of Jews in the American south. It is December of 1939, Gone with the Wind is having its world premiere & Hitler is invading Poland, but Atlanta’s upper-crust Freitag family is much more concerned with who is going to Ballyhoo, Atlanta’s Jewish cotillion & the social event of the season.  The ensuing comedy proves both hilarious & thought-provoking as it touches on themes of assimilation, anti-Semitism & change.

Featured in The Last Night of Ballyhoo are Debbie Bekefi, John Ferry, Carla Zackson Heller, Anna Schulman, James Stage, Maya Tzur & David Vega.

ALFRED UHRY (Playwright) is an American playwright & screenwriter. He has received an Academy Award, two Tony Awards & the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for dramatic writing for Driving Miss Daisy, the first part of his Atlanta Trilogy.  The Last Night of Ballyhoo is the second part of the trilogy, for which he won the Tony Award. The third of the Trilogy is the musical Parade, which also earned Uhry a Tony, as well as one for composer Jason Robert Brown.
