Following a four-evening run at the Birdland Theater, Julie Budd brings her show, A Life in Show Business, to the Friars Club on Tuesday, May 14th at 5:30 pm, celebrating her career and the incredible people she has worked with over the years. Budd weaves stories from quitting sleep-away camp to meeting longtime musical partner Herb Bernstein in the Catskills to the history of TV talk shows to working with Frank Sinatra and more.
“Growing up, the songs I was singing were written by the greats—people that in my future, I would know and work with,” says Budd. The evening will celebrate her journey in music and her life in art, and how it all shaped her life and good fortune over 53 years in show business. The evening will also be a tribute to the great composers and lyricists that Budd had the grand fortune to know. “After all,” she says, “what good is a voice if you don’t have wonderful songs to sing?”
Budd and Herb Bernstein will also sit down with Richard Skipper to discuss her life and career. Film clips and at Q&A with the audience will also be part of the event.
