Fourth Annual Darrell Henline Award from Cabaret Scenes and the American Songbook Association honors “The Crown Prince of New York Cabaret,” Steve Ross on Saturday, June 21 at 7 PM at The Green Room 42, NYC
Appearing are Judy Carmichael, Peter Mintun, Ron Spivak, Hector Ubarr, Shana Farr, Eric Michael Gillett, Karen Murphy and more.
Ross has been a fixture of the cabaret community in Manhattan for over forty years. As a singer-pianist, he has been called “the suavest of all male cabaret performers” by The New York Times and “the smoothest cabaret act in the world” by the London Times. In 1981 he re-opened the legendary Oak Room at Manhattan’s famed Algonquin Hotel where he held forth, off and on, for nine years. He has appeared on Broadway in Noël Coward’s Present Laughter and Off-Broadway in his tribute to Fred Astaire entitled I Won’t Dance.
Darrell Henline Award is named after the late founder and publisher of Cabaret Scenes magazine until his death in 2003. The award honors that individual whose professional career in the field of cabaret has been one of consistent excellence and distinction.
