Ten talented “Tomatoes” gathered recently at the Triad Theater to compete for the Tomato crown of crowns in the final edition of the 10-year run of Tomatoes Got Talent—produced by The Three Tomatoes (created by co-host Cheryl Benton) and host Randie Levine-Miller. Music director Paul Chamlin accompanied not only the Tomatoes, but host Miller (who warmly engaged the audience), in several numbers, including “Old Friends” (Stephen Sondheim) and “A Cockeyed Optimist” (Rodgers and Hammerstein).
The judges— Gretchen Cryer, Margaret Colin, Alyce Finell—were gathered to hear ten past winners, women over 40 who not currently working as entertainment professionals (many with significant day jobs) perform, aiming to be “the best of the best.” They were: Karen Nason (2014), Susan Vardy (2015), Kathleen Waters (2016) Teresa Fischer (2017), Sheree Sano (2018), Christina Connors (2019), Robin Lyon Gardiner (2021), Leslee Warren (2022), Evangeline Johns (2023) and Dr. Alice Levine, Mary Calamia, Kelli Maguire (all 2023).
With the judging completed, a surprise ending was revealed: every Tomato was a winner! (For more info, click here)
