Sue’s Muse: An Interview with Vicki Burns

How exciting to have TWO muses to highlight this week!  I had a sit down with another muse, Jazz Goddess, Vicki Burns who will be doing a tribute show to her muse, Anita O’Day. Vicki has a lot on her plate these days with the passing of her beloved mother so we talk a little bit about how to keep on and keep focus when dealing with grief and what music does for and to us at times like this.

Rob Lester wrote: “…One of the most coolly competent — or just plain cool — jazz singers I have heard so far this year: Vicki Burns. She has a clean sound and a great technique that’s pretty dazzling.”

She a fascinating lady…please meet Vicki Burns…

Vicki Burns and her sizzling trio bring a sparkling tribute to Anita O’Day to The Green Room 42! Featuring such iconic tunes at Sweet Georgia Brown, Honeysuckle Rose and Tea For Two, Vicki will thrill you with both her breathtaking scat singing and her tender tearjerking ballads evoking the masterful interpretations of the great jazz vocalist Anita O’Day.

“Brilliant vocals by Vicki… An amazing range and you can hear the joy, the melancholy, the rapture, the devastation and all are equally convincing. Perhaps that is the final word on such a great talent as Vicki Burns, she is convincing.” Travis Rogers, Jr., The Jazz Owl
