Such Sweet Thunder celebrates the music and genius of Duke Ellington on Friday, December 12 at 7 PM at Symphony Space Peter Jay Sharp Theatre. Presented by The Duke Ellington Center for the Arts in association with The American Tap Dance Foundation, the show is directed by Mercedes Ellington and Tony Waag. Pianist Eli Yamin music directs and leads the Duke Ellington Center Big Band.
This holiday celebration features a rare full performance of Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s jazz suite inspired by Shakespeare—plus amazing music and stunning song and dance. The cast features:
Mark Mindek, AC Lincoln, Karen Callaway Williams, DeWitt Fleming Jr., Antoinette Montague, Max Pollak, Miles Purinton, Marion Cowings, Karyn Tomczak & the Precision Dancers, and the Big Apple Ballroom Studio Dancers.
