Spend New Year’s Eve (Virtually), Thursday, December 31, with the Emmet Cohen Trio, Live From Dizzy’s

For this New Year’s Eve edition of Live From Dizzy’s, the Emmet Cohen Trio with special guests Houston Person and Samara Joy McLendon, streams on Thursday, December 31 at 7:30 PM EST. The show includes holiday classics like “ What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” tunes by George Gershwin and Cole Porter, and rare gems such as “Good Morning Heartache.” This New Year’s Eve performance will also  feature an artist interview, hosted by Jazz at Lincoln Center Concerts and Touring Associate Yunie Mojica, prior to the set.

Pianist Emmet Cohen is both a sideman and bandleader who has become an integral part of the cross-generational jazz community thriving in New York City. Cohen’s trio, made up of Russell Hall on bass and Kyle Poole on drums, has become a first-call rhythm section for top vocalists and instrumentalists, in addition to being a popular headlining band in its own right.

The trio will be joined by rising star vocalist Samara Joy McLendon, recent winner of the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition; and a master of the music, 86-year-old tenor saxophonist Houston Person.
