The Roxy Hotel Tribeca presents “Sunset Cocktails,” live-streaming of pianist-singer Michael Garin, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 pm-7 pm EDT. The show, from Garin’s living room, can be viewed at @theroxyhotelnyc Garin has been a popular performer at the hotel, attracting celebrities from Whoopi Goldberg to A$AP Rocky. His large repertoire ranges from Middle Eastern and Yiddish to music from classic and obscure cult films, as well as standards and early rock and R&B.
Over the last several decades, Garin has been playing piano and singing in such legendary New York City venues such as The Monkey Bar, The Rainbow Room, Café Feenjon and the VIP Room at Limelight, where he performed for and with such luminaries as Frank Zappa, James Chance, David Lee Roth and Kool & the Gang. With his on- and off-stage partner, singer-comedienne Mardie Millit, Garin performed weekly at Elaine’s for the last three years of the restaurant’s life. His other credits include running the cabaret, as well as writing original music for the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where he accompanied Elaine Stritch, Jane Krakowski and Nathan Lane, to name a few. He co-wrote and co-starred in the hit Off-Broadway musical Song of Singapore, for which he won both Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards. He is currently writing music and lyrics for a musical version of illustrator Ed Sorel’s bestselling book, Mary Astor’s Purple Diary.
