By Scott Barbarino***Dear Cabaret Family and Friends… I hope you’ve all had a wonderful summer full of music and the joy it brings, especially as we’ve all had a lot to deal with in these extraordinarily unstable times.
But what we can mostly rely on and be most grateful for is good health. Yet the reality is that it’s not always that way for everyone— and that brings me to this message from a dear friend of mine and our community.
Ray DeForest aka Doris Dear has had a hard year due to her cancer diagnosis. But in true style, Ray has forged on and though his treatments have been difficult, he’s slowly getting back into a healthy mode. So what does someone faced by their own mortality do … they put on a show and this one is special and free for all those who have supported him—we’re grateful for Ray, and his gesture of gratitude, love in action.
I hope to see your smiling faces as we support and enjoy this time together with Ray DeForest and the most wonderful Doris Dear.
Here’s a message from Ray in his own words:
“I’ve been thinking about how to give back to all of you who’ve supported me through my cancer crisis. And I have something special planned. On September 13th at 1 PM, I’m inviting everyone who has been there for me—whether you’ve donated, sent love, or just kept me in your thoughts—to join me for a FREE Doris Dear Gurl Talk show at The Triad Theater in NYC. This is my way of saying thank you. This show is for YOU!
The doors will open at 12:30 PM and the show kicks off at 1 PM. It’s a first-come, first-served event, so make sure to come early to grab your seat. We will have a full b
ar open, but there won’t be any waiters, so feel free to relax, grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the afternoon.
The show itself will run from 1 PM to 2 PM, and it’s completely FREE. That’s right—no tickets, no price tag, just a chance for me to show my appreciation and for all of us to come together in celebration.
I’m so excited to see you all there. It’s going to be a fun, joyful, and heartfelt time, and I truly hope you can join me in person to celebrate. I couldn’t have gotten through this year without your love, support and generosity, and this show is my small way of saying THANK YOU for all that you’ve done.
I can’t wait to see you at The Triad Theater on September 13th. Let’s share some laughs, some cocktails and a whole lot of gratitude. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for being with me every step of the way. I’m looking forward to this very special afternoon with all of you. See you soon!
