Award-winning actor Michael Walters presents his world premiere tribute to Dame Edna‘s fabulous Broadway shows in Overdressed for the Apocalypse on Saturdays, September 7 and 21, and Sunday, September 22 at The Triad Theater, all at 6:30 PM.
Celebrating 25 years of paying homage to the Diva from Down Under, Walters promises a riotously funny evening filled with glittering gowns, outrageous comedy and fabulous Broadway numbers!
Walters, has the distinction of being the longest-running Dame Edna tribute act in the world—and if you’ve never heard of Dame Edna before, she was a character created by Australian comedian Barry Humphries, who performed the role all the way from 1955 up until he passed away last year.
When he’s not probing audiences as Dame Edna, Walters is a noted baritone singer and character actor, considering musical theatre his true calling. He is also known for his impersonation of Jackie Gleason (“The Honeymooners,” Smokey and the Bandit), as well as his annual portrayal of Santa Claus for some of New York City’s best known hotels, productions and events.
