Returning to their familiar East Side venue, Pangea, Barbara Bleier and Austin Pendleton, present a new show on Tuesdays, October 4th, 11th and 25th, all at 7 PM. Arrangements and music direction are by pianist Paul Greenwood.
The show pays tribute to Richard Rodgers, one of the most prolific musical theater composers of the 20th century. His collaborations were mainly with Lorenz Hart and Oscar Hammerstein II, but he also co-wrote musicals with the late Stephen Sondheim, Sheldon Harnick and Martin Charnin. Rodgers notably wrote both lyrics and music for one of the first interracial musicals on Broadway—No Strings, the first musical he composed after the death of Hammerstein. The musical opened on Broadway in 1962 and won three Tony Awards, including Best Original Score.
Tickets are $20 when purchased online, or $25.00 cash at the door. There is also a drink/food minimum.
Pangea is located at 178 Second Ave., NYC
