NiteLife Exchanges with Mardie Millit & Michael Garin

NiteLife Exchanges is a streaming video interview show, with hosts Scott Barbarino and Tony Javed. In this edition they welcome Mardie Millit and Michael Garin.

The spousal team of Mardie Millitt and Michael Garin are a musical duo with a sound artistic partnership and a 2022 MAC Award. They first met at Cast Party at Birdland in 2005, but although their was an immediate kinship and love of humor, they didn’t become romantically involved until a few years later.

Prior to their union artistic and personal, Millit had begun in opera. Considering that a mistake, she then worked in musical theater, singing in regional theaters all over the US, but says without the proper connections, didn’t get as far as she wanted. Cabaret beckoned about 20 years ago as a place she was able to sing whatever she wanted.

Garin has been house pianist at the Roxy Hotel in Tribeca for seven years. He’s a Drama Desk, Outer Critics’ Circle, MAC and Bistro Award winner, whose played the major rooms in the City and who also co-created and co-starred in Song of Singapore, the environmental musical (for which he received the Drama Desk Award). He’s also been an actor in stints with Spike Lee, as well as a poet, songwriter and song-and-dance man, criss-crossing the boundaries of entertainment to a diverse audience.

They’re premiering a new show, Sorry-Grateful: One Sondheim Story in Letters and Song, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Saturday, October 28 at 9:30 PM. For information about the show and to reserve, click here.
