NiteLife Exchanges is a streaming video interview show, with hosts Scott Barbarino and Tony Javed. In this edition they welcome Lynda Rodolitz.
New York-bred Lynda Rodolitz is an actor and performer and the 2018 winner of Mama’s Next BIG Act as well as a MAC Award. She grew up in Brooklyn in a culturally aware family. Her parents were regulars in attending Broadway musicals with young Lynda and her brother. She spent many afternoons singing along with each cast album, especially entranced by Ethel Merman. Rodolitz began performing in the late 1970s and in eventually found that she loved writing funny stories that would have the song as a punchline, which led to a stand up career. But she left the business in the late 1980s, worked as a photographer and moved to Santa Fe. After nine years, Rodolitz returned to NYC, studied with Helen Baldassare—and the rest is cabaret history.
Her new show Lynda Rodolitz Makes Art at Don’t Tell Mama continues on Tuesday, November 14 at 7 PM and Sunday, November 19 at 3 PM. The show is directed by Lennie Watts, with Steven Ray Watkins as Musical Director, also featuring Matt Scharfglass on bass and Don Kelly on percussion, with backup vocals by Wendy Russell.
