NiteLife Exchanges with Barbara Bleier

NiteLife Exchanges is a streaming video interview show, with hosts Scott Barbarino and Tony Javed. This week they welcome Barbara Bleier.

A classically trained pianist who played Carnegie Hall at age four, Barbara Bleier has been a musician her entire life. Over time her resume has expanded to include singer, actor, writer and Doctor of Clinical Psychology, a career in which she’s known as Barbara Cohn Schlachet, Ph.D. Her background as both an actor and psychologist has enabled her to plumb the depths of the characters she brings to life in song, theatre and film with insight, understanding and empathy. Barbara’s performances with longtime collaborator Austin Pendleton have won critical praise for their on-stage rapport and savvy choice of material. A writer with a passion for illuminating the issues facing women, she has written numerous plays, short stories and articles. Her solo show, Who’s Your Mama?, which she wrote and performed (directed by Austin Pendleton), deals with issues of women aging in America, and was given productions at Stage Left Theatre and at HB.

Bleier performs at Pangea, with a new solo show Too Old to Die Young, on Tuesdays, March 21 and March 28, both at 7 PM, with music director-pianist Paul Greenwood.
