On Saturday, September 1, Alan Cumming will host the Grand Opening, welcoming more than 400 guests to LUMBERYARD, the Hudson Valley’s newest film and performing arts center in Catskill, NY. Although tickets for the Saturday performance of Savion Glover, featuring Marcus Gilmore, is sold out, they will be live streaming the event on their Facebook page, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
Cabaret/Nightclub artist Alan Cumming is a Tony Award-winner, known for his memorable Broadway performance in Cabaret and for his TV and film roles, including his Emmy Award-winning performance in “The Good Wife.” His last performances at The Cafe Carlyle of his nightclub act, Legal Immigrant, were sold out love affairs between himself and the audiences.
The opening night show with Savion Glover, featuring Marcus Gilmore, is a supreme meeting of rhythm masters. The Tony Award–winning Savion Glover, an artist called “the greatest tap virtuoso of our time, perhaps of all time” (New Yorker), joins forces with drummer Marcus Gilmore, an heir to jazz royalty as the grandson of iconic drummer Roy Haynes, a dynamic musician known for his work with Vijay Iyer, Chick Corea, Steve Coleman, Nicholas Payton, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Ravi Coltrane. Glover and Gilmore are where rhythm and melody converge.
ABOUT LUMBERYARD
We help artists make the work they imagine.
LUMBERYARD Contemporary Performing Arts is the only organization in the United States dedicated to providing technical residencies that culminate in out-of-town premieres.
At our campus in Catskill, NY (opening late 2018) and at partner venues in New York City, we provide artists and their companies with at least one week of unrestricted theatre access prior to a premiere. This includes a fee, dedicated use of our production staff, equipment and production materials as well as photo/video documentation, housing and meals during the residency. Each residency concludes with a premiere of the artist’s work.
LUMBERYARD’s work ensures a strong future for contemporary performing arts:
