NEA Jazz Master, Pianist Kenny Barron, Makes His SMOKE Jazz Club Debut from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25

Legendary pianist and NEA Jazz Master, Kenny Barron, will make his debut at SMOKE Jazz Club from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25, with sets at 7 and 9 PM. Barron will lead a trio with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Savannah Harris.

The 81-year-old Barron has been described as “one of the top jazz pianists in the world (The Los Angeles Times),”and “the most lyrical piano player of our time” (Jazz Weekly). Barron is noted for elegant playing, sensitive melodies and engaging rhythms. His career began in Philadelphia while he was still a teenager and continued in New York with the likes of Roy Haynes, Lee Morgan, James Moody, Dizzy Gillespie and many more. Among numerous accolades and honors, he was named a Jazz Master in 2010 by the National Endowment of the Arts.
