Vocalist Natalie Douglas celebrates her new CD (Club 44 Records), Back to the Garden, on Monday, February 26 at 7 PM at Birdland. The album is produced by Wayne Haun, with Joel Lindsey and Sharon Terrell executive producers. Orchestrations are by Wayne Haun, with Joel Mott providing big band arrangements.
Back to the Garden is a mix of golden-age standards, pop gems of the Woodstock generation and special surprises. Highlights include a big band arrangement of the Cole Porter classic “Begin the Beguine,” a lilting version of the ballad “You’ll Never Know,” a jazz age take on the Kern, Hammerstein and Harbach gem “Who?,” and a rock-inspired interpretation of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock,” among many other delights.
