This September 13 was Mel Tormé’s 100 birthday, celebrated at 54 below by musical director-pianist-singer Billy Stritch and vocalist Nicolas King. Both men are strong performers and were influenced by Tormé. They joined forces for a magical evening. As a special treat the band included Tormé’s bass player Jay Leonhart, as well as drummer Jakubu Griffin.
