Marta Sanders and Leanne Borghesi team up for the first time in this comedic nightclub act, Show Broads: A Nightclub Duel, a bawdy nightclub act with hot music, lot’s of laughs, and not an ingenue in sight, at Birdland Jazz Club on Sunday, November 17th at 5:30 pm.
This new comedy duet brings together two brassy belters and promises a night of jazz, Latin, Broadway and original tunes. Show Broads is directed by Nicolas Minas, and was written by Leanne Borghesi, Marta Sanders and Nathan Cann. Musical direction is by Dana P. Rowe, featuring Don Kelly on drums, Jim Piela on brass/winds and Jamie Mohamdein on bass.
In a career spanning several decades, vocalist and entertainer, Marta Sanders, soon after arriving in Manhattan, was led her to the New York cabaret circuit, and was eventually cast in the original Broadway production of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. She is a MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) and Bistro Award Winner for Outstanding Female Vocalist and also won the Bistro Award for Consummate Cabaret Artistry in 2018.
Bi-coastal entertainer, vocalist and theater artist (SF/NY) specializing in performance with big bands, jazz ensemble and comedic “theatrical cabarets,” Leanne Borghesi has been entertaining audiences coast to coast for over two decades. She made the recent New York debut of her one-woman comedic show Mood Swings (2019 MAC Award Nominee) as well as her Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center debuts with the Mabel Mercer Foundation.
