The answer is: The romantic screwball musical comedy Love & Other Fables, the musical you’ve been waiting 3,000 years for. Join us for a one night celebration of music, girls, gags and legs by the award-winning writing team of John McMahon and Jay Jeffries. Featuring an all-star Broadway cast, this concert is directed by Jay Binder, and with musical direction by the composer John McMahon.
Steven Strafford (“Spamalot”, “Peter Pan”) plays the world-famous fabulist before anyone knew who he, or what a fable, was. Alli Mauzey (“Wicked” “Cry Baby”) plays the headstrong object of Aesop’s unending desire. John Rapson (“A Gentleman’s Guide To Love And Murder”, “Les Miserables”) plays King Croesus of Lydia, the richest man in the ancient world. Lesli Margherita (“Matilda” “Dames At Sea”) plays the wily, power-hungry, sex-obsessed courtesan to King Croesus. Ed Watts (“Scandalous” “The Fantasticks”) plays Philocalus, Aesop’s best friend and sex-toy of Delphinia. Dakin Matthews (“Waitress” “Rocky”) plays Xanthus, father-figure and owner of both Aesop and Lycaena. Blair Ross (“Side Show” “Cinderella”) plays Catastrophe, the status-seeking, social-climbing wife of Xanthus. Rachel Coloff (“Lestat”) plays Mme. Mnemosyne, the obsequious wedding shoppe owner. Lindsay Roberts (“The Gershwins’ Porgy And Bess”) plays Delphinia’s shade-throwing Head Handmaiden. Jeremy Benton (“White Christmas” “Cagney”) plays the tap-dancing Captain Of The Guard. Jason Michael Evans plays Mercury, The Olympus Delivery Guy. With Rex Benincasa on drums and narrated and accompanied by the composer, John McMahon. Directed by Jay Binder.

John McMahon’s credits include the Broadway production of Prince of Central Park, and the revival of the Gershwin musical Oh! Kay! Off-Broadway, he was heard playing for the hit musical Ruthless! and the revue Whoop Dee Doo! He was the musical conductor and co-creator of the musical revue Bottoms Up! He directed the original revue of the music of Rick Crom’s Absolutely Rude!, and musical directed his Star Trek parody musical Space Trek.
Jay Jeffries wrote lyrics and sketches for the Upstairs at the Downstairs revues INSTANT REPLAY, FREE FALL, and WEIGH-IN (WAY OUT), and a book-revue, THE MANHATTAN ARRANGEMENT. He crea for the off-Broadway revues, FUN CITY at the Jan Hus and FOR LOVE OR MONEY at the Circle Rep. He also served as lyricist for a children’s musical, THE RANSOM OF REDCHIEF. His topical revue INNUENDO… OUT THE OTHER, which played both Broadway Baby and Backstage, won two Bistro Awards. On Broadway, with composer James Raitt, he wrote specialty material for STARDUST.
