Jazz at Lincoln Center will be setting the mood for Valentine’s Day with a week-long celebration of love and live music in two of its venues in. In Rose Theater, 2018 NEA Jazz Master Dianne Reeves (February 15–16) will return to the House of Swing with her powerful sound and broad repertoire for the eighth consecutive Valentine’s Day celebration. Joining Reeves is music director and pianist Peter Martin, guitarist Romero Lubambo, bassist Reginald Veal and drummer Terreon Gully. In Dizzy’s Club, the Freddy Cole Quartet offers Songs for Lovers from February 7-10, followed by Kim Nalley: Love Songs (February 14–17). A special prix-fixe menu will be offered on Valentine’s Day.
Jazz pianist and singer Freddy Cole is a prolific artist who built his career at the same time as his brother, the iconic Nat “King” Cole; it was never going to be easy for Cole to establish his own musical identity,however, he has released 20 albums in just the last 25 years, three of which were nominated for Grammy Awards.
Kim Nalley returns to Jazz at Lincoln Center after sold-out runs in Dizzy’s Club and The Appel Room.Nalley packs an expansive vocal range that can go from operatic to gritty blues, into blistering scat solos, hushed ballads and everything in between.
