Vocalist Lisa Kantor makes her In her New York City cabaret debut at Don’t Tell Mama on Saturday, April 5 at 4 PM with Shadows: The Golden Era of Nightclubs. Tom LaMark is music director-pianist, with bassist Tom Hubbard. Show director is Lina Koutrakos.
The show is a peek behind the curtains and an opportunity to celebrate the singers who stood center stage inside the smoky clubs, speakeasies and cabarets of the 1940s. During “The Golden Era of Nightclubs,” live music thrived in intimate settings that felt raw and real. Kantor pays homage and weaves in and out of this extraordinary era with the songs of Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, the Gershwins, Peggy Lee and more.
