Actor-singer Linda Purl and pianist-singer and music director Billy Stritch are In the Mood: Songs for Jumping Back Into Life on Sunday, November 7 at 8:30 PM at Birdland Theater. The two friends take on an evening of songs for having a good time, with Ray Marchica on drums and David Finck on bass.
“Back to life, back to music, back to live events and most importantly back to the people we love…there’s so much to celebrate and so many reasons to stay resilient,” says Purl. Songs presented will be standards, such as “I’m in the Mood for Love,” Happy Madness,” “I’m Shooting High/Lucky Day,” “Cheerful Little Earful” and many more.
Purl is known for her running roles on multiple television series. She was Richie Cunningham’s girlfriend, Fonzie’s fiancée, Matlock’s daughter, Pam’s Mom/Steve Carell’s girlfriend, for starters, and has starred in over 45 made-for-TV movies. Purls’s theater credits are many, covering Broadway, Off-Broadway, Regional and international. As a vocalist, Purl has performed at Feinstein’s/54 Below, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, Catalina Jazz Club, Colorado Springs Symphony, Thousand Oaks Performing Arts Center, Naples Philharmonic, Crazy Coqs in London, Club Raye in Paris and Satin Doll in Tokyo. Solo albums are Alone Together, Out of this World—Live, Midnight Caravan, Up Jumped Spring and the newly released Taking a Chance on Love.
