Lillias White and Karen Akers Will Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 40th Annual MAC Awards on Monday, March 23

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) is pleased to announce the upcoming 40th Annual MAC Awards. The awards presentation and show will take place on Monday, March 23 at 7:00 PM at Peter Norton Symphony Space. The MAC Awards show is produced by Julie Miller, directed by Amy Wolk and music directed by John Fischer.

The MAC Awards, honoring excellence in NYC nightlife during the 2025 calendar year, features musical performances and competitive awards in multiple categories \. The envelopes will be opened and the winners will be announced live. The presentation of special honoree awards includes the MAC Lifetime Achievement Award, this year presented to two stars of Broadway, television, film and cabaret: Lillias White and Karen Akers.

Lillias White, a native New Yorker, made her Broadway debut in Barnum and received a Tony Award nomination for Fela! For The Life, she won the Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for her portrayal of a world-weary, no-nonsense hooker named Sonya. Beyond extensive , award-winning theater credits, White ’s concert appearances include 54 Below, the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center and otehrs. Television appearances include a regular role on “Sesame Street,” for which she won an Emmy Award, a current role on Netflix in “The Get Down,” and more; and among many film credits are Hercules, Anastasia, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Pieces of April and Then She Found Me.

Karen Akers has appeared in prestigious venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl; New York’s premiere nightspots such as the Cafe Carlyle and The Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel, plus many internationally. Akers multi-ward-winning multifaceted career encompasses theatre, television, film and recordings. She made her debut on the Great White Way in the original production of Nine, receiving a Tony nomination and a Theatre World Award and also starred in Grand Hotel. Among extensive TV credits are “Cheers,”  “The Equalizer,” “Hart to Hart” and several PBS specials. Film roles include Heartburn, The Purple Rose of Cairo and Vibes. Akers’s many CDs include: Live From Rainbow and Stars, Under Paris Skies, Unchained Melodies and Simply Styne.
