Resuming a season of cabaret at The Pierre Hotel, KT Sullivan celebrates Barbara Cook on Monday, November 4 at 8:30 PM in the hotel’s Two E Lounge.
The late Broadway star and vocalist Barbara Cook was introduced to the world of cabaret through acclaimed musical director and composer Wally Harper. Their decades-long collaboration sparked an amazing second act that also inspired Oklahoma native Sullivan as she began her own journey through song. In I Can Cook, she pays tribute to both Cook and Harper with a setlist featuring “Sing A Song With Me” and “It’s Better With A Band” (both written by Harper) as well as classics arranged by him, such as “Sweet Georgia Brown,” “Dancing In The Dark” and “Wait Til You See Him.’
In addition to Broadway and TV, Sullivan’s career includes regular appearances in such New York venues as The Laurie Beechman Theatre, Green Room 42 and Birdland. She has also been showcased at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, CLUB RaYé in Paris and The Pheasantry in London. Sullivan guest starred on Garrison Keillor’s “Prairie Home Companion,” recorded six albums on the DRG label and has served as Artistic Director of The Mabel Mercer Foundation since 2012.
