Vocalist and cabaret star Klea Blackhurst returns to Chelsea Table + Stage with the Second Edition of The Box Set—a season-long retrospective of the artist’s acclaimed shows—on Sundays, October 19 and November 16, both at 7 PM. The series begins with Dreaming of a Song: The Music of Hoagy Carmichael featuring Billy Stritch, and follows with Everything the Traffic Will Allow: The Songs and Sass of Ethel Merman.
The Carmichael show mines the Hoagy catalog to unearth lesser-known gems, as well as beloved treasures such as “Skylark,” “Georgia on My Mind” and “Stardust.” Blackhurst’s loving tribute to the songs made famous by the quintessential stage personality Ethel Merman is a happy reminder of Merman’s sheer, undeniable importance to both the history of twentieth century entertainment and the iconic composers such as Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and Jerry Herman, who wrote songs just for her.
Tickets to the show are $20-$40, in addition to a service charge and a $25 food and beverage minimum per person. A livestream option is available for $20 each. Tickets are available at chelseatableandstage.com
CHELSEA TABLE + STAGE is located at 152 W 26th St, New York, NY
