Karen Mason to Experience Stage Fright in NYC August 14

Karen Mason, who originated the role of Tanya in Broadway’s Mamma Mia! and who played the villainous Queen of Hearts in the musical Wonderland, will be the featured guest August 14 at the live Broadway talk show Stage Fright at Therapy lounge in Manhattan.

Mason has become a fixture on the concert and cabaret scene across the U.S., making appearances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Rainbow & Stars, the Algonquin, The Supper Club and The Ballroom in New York; the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.; the Cinegrill and the UCLA/ASCAP Concert Series in Los Angeles; the Plush Room in San Francisco; and Davenport’s in Chicago.

Mason has appeared regularly on Broadway, replacing Norma Desmond in the original run of Sunset Boulevard, and Velma von Tussel in Hairspray. She had also been scheduled to star in the ill-fated Rebecca, which closed in rehearsals.

The weekly Stage Fright series is hosted by drag personality Marti Gould Cummings with musical direction by Bradford Proctor. Guests are interviewed, do a performance, then play a game with the audience.

Next scheduled guest: Michael Urie (Buyer & Cellar, The Government Inspector, Ugly Betty) on August 28.
