MAC and Margaret Whiting Award winner, Josephine Sanges, salutes Fanny Brice with The Funny Girl in Me on Friday, May 6 at 7 PM at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Musical director is John M. Cook. The show is directed by Jeff Harnar.
Sanges celebrates the legacy of Fanny Brice by recalling her own experience playing the leading role in the 1995 Diocesan Theater Guild production of Funny Girl. She puts her own personal stamp on songs from that show as well as Funny Lady, in addition to a few of Fanny’s original, trademark songs from the Ziegfeld Follies and Hollywood films.

She is known as the creator and star of the top-rated radio comedy series “The Baby Snooks Show.” Thirteen years after her death, Barbra Streisand famously starred in the 1964 musical about Brice, Funny Girl, its subsequent film version and the 1975 film sequel, Funny Lady.
