My latest photo journal features images from multi-award-winning director-performer Jeff Harnar‘s last performance in a month-long Thursday-night series of Blame It on My Youth shows at Don’t Tell Mama—with the fabulous pianist Alex Rybeck as music director.
It was an amazing evening of songs, with wonderful stories by Harnar of his 42-year-long partnership with Rybeck since the early 1980s. The room was full of adoring audience members, and Harnar’s voice was impeccable as usual. The show included songs by Irving Berlin, Kander & Ebb, Richard Rodgers, Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim, Charles Aznavour, Paul Simon, Carole King and Billy Joel. The musical arrangements by Rybeck also included several from the late Brian Lasser, one of their pivotal early collaborators.
