Vocalist Jeannette Miller‘s Better Than Anything plays on Friday, October 3 at Pangea at 7 PM.  Roberta Piket is at the piano, with bassist Yoshi Waki.

For this birthday set, Miller will offer songs from the American songbook and jazz canon, ranging from Rodgers & Hart to Thelonius Monk, along with yet-to-be discovered writers. An  improviser praised for her “swanky, take-charge vocals,” Miller was a vocalist on “Jazz Nite” at the 2024 Winter Rhythms Festival (urbanStages, New York City) and her cabaret show Everything Must Change was featured in Bistro Bits.

Her interpretations draw on her years as a pop/folk singer-songwriter and her improvisation studies with Bobby McFerrin, Rhiannon and Jay Clayton. As a songwriter, her originals have garnered awards in national songwriting competitions. And as a member of Kaleidoscope, an a cappella vocal group that does completely improvised performances, Miller has appeared at the Hudson West Festival, Brooklyn Art Haus and others.

Tickets online $20 here. Tickets at the door, if available, $25 (Cash Only). There is a $20 minimum per person (food or beverage).

Pangea is located at 178 2nd Avenue, NYC
